PHILIPS HOSTS GREEN FAÇADE LIGHTING SEMINAR-WORKSHOP AT THE BCI AWARDS NIGHT

The best architects in the country meet the best in lighting at the Green Façade Seminar-Workshop organized by Philips Lighting last May 28 during the BCI Top 10 Architects Awards Night held at the Manila Diamond Hotel. This afternoon event was held before the much-awaited BCI Top 10 Architects Awards Night. The event was conducted to communicate the important role of lighting designers in achieving effective creative lighting and also to further build their credibility in the architectural community.

Three local lighting designers were tapped to give the presentation talks. Nory Ramirez of PL Lighting pointed out important considerations in lighting a façade while Dindo Borlaza of Dela Cruz-Borlaza Lighting and Architecture discussed how to color mix using LED and how to treat textures with light. On the other hand, light sources and where to strategically place them to achieve the desired lighting effect were the presentation highlights of Christine Gonzaga of Christine Sycangco Lighting Design.

Before sun down, the participants were guided by lighting designers in an outdoor lighting workshop at the Pool Side. Philips provided the architects with electricians, color mixing and programming controls. The lighting designers served as their consultants during the workshop.

Philips earned a 56% positive Net Promoter Score and twelve potential project leads as a result of the Green Façade Seminar and Workshop.

One of the highlights of the awards night was the awarding of the 2010 FutureArc Prize given to the most innovative green building designs. Philips CEO and General Manager, Rico Gonzales, went onstage to acknowledge and award the FuturArc winners.

Each year, BCI Asia, the region’s leading construction information provider, bestows the BCI Top 10 Awards to architectural firms with the greatest project volumes.
